How to Host a Memorial Day Barbeque Without a Grill

by Waverly Wilde

It’s a common misconception that the only good Memorial Day events are ones that have grills preparing your food. But if you happen to be hosting a party that weekend, you don’t REALLY need a grill to get the taste you’re looking for. Your oven is all it takes to give your food that delicious flavor you and your guests are craving. Try these three barbeque recipes that’ll have all your guests thinking you have a grill hiding in your kitchen!

Burgers

When you think of backyard events, you can never go wrong with a juicy, mouthwatering burger. It’s the food of summertime – perfect for not only Memorial Day but also Fourth of July and birthday pool parties.

We’ve found a recipe that will let you use the oven to make your burger patties! But, instead of just placing the burger patty directly on a pan, you’ll want the burger to grill on an oven-safe rack over a pan lined with foil. Hopefully, this allows you a little more time to think about purchasing the perfect grill for you.

Steak

If you don’t happen to have a grill, we have just the recipe to help you grill a steak in the oven.

Just to be clear, cooking steak in the oven is not the same as grilling steak in the oven – there is a difference! Just like grilling a burger in the oven, you’ll want to place your steak on an oven-safe rack so that the air circulates underneath the steak, mirroring the same effect of a grill. So when your Memorial Day barbeque is here and you don’t have a grill, follow this recipe to get that grilled steak taste you love so much.

Chicken

If you’re trying to cut down on red meats, try incorporating this tasty chicken into your Memorial Day party. Again, if you don’t have a grill but are wanting a similar grill flavor to go with your chicken, try combining garlic powder, cumin, sea salt, and anything else you might normally season your chicken with when grilling.

Feeling limited when it comes to cooking is frustrating, especially when you are trying to throw a Memorial Day event with lots of tasty treats for all your family and friends. If you’re lacking the proper grill or oven to assist you while hosting, we’d love to help you come up with a solution.
